Hola, hola! We are Sweet Caribbean, very nice to meet you! This is Dani - owner and photographer of Sweet Caribbean. My family and I operate our family business together.

Sweet Caribbean was a project that I started without knowing where it would take me, little by little the world of weddings caught me, my work seemed incredible, it was incredible for me to share a whole day with a family that made you yours later, you were surrounded only by love, laughter, and pure good vibes.

It didn't take long for me to realize that this was my thing, and that this was my true Gift and that it was what I had to offer the world, make happy people, relive moments, squander love.

A few years passed, and we started offering video as well, we already achieved a unique style, by which couples follow us a lot, this took us a few years.

What inspired you to start shooting weddings?

I studied visual arts with a specialization in photography 5 years at the Mexican Plastic Arts University; in this school I was prepared to be an artist in every sense of the word, I already had very different bases and my creative mind had developed in a totally artistic, where the intention was to discover talent and make it grow and make you unique. They developed my personality to the maximum This is where my whole story began.

After 5 years, I finished school and I decided to go to Mexico City to work, I had the best jobs I could imagine, the best magazines in the country. There came a moment when I worked at the same time for 20 magazines, I traveled a lot and met many artists. At the first magazine job I had, the director saw my book, and immediately believed in me, in the magazine there were already two photographers who were twice my age and also my experience. But they saw something in me. Working those 4 years in Mexico made me grow and I also realized that I still could not find what really filled me.

I began to feel that I needed to return to my origin, to my house with my family, to the sea, to breathe fresh air. So from one day to the next I decided to leave all that work and return to Cancun my home. Already being in Cancun, my unconscious didn't want to leave the world of magazines, so why not? I decided to put my own magazine in the Riviera Maya, my magazine was called TASTE, it was a revolution the time it was, but it was too artistic for the moment and the advertisers thought it was a bit out of the ordinary, so it only lasted 3 years, and it is a work of art.

Along with the magazine I was already flirting with weddings, I started with friends taking photos of their weddings, and so little by little it happens in the world of weddings doing it for my friends until one day someone asked me for a quote, and so between games it was like I started Sweet Caribbean.

Tell us something about your personal life that clients wouldn't find out from your Instagram page or wedding albums?

Something you would never imagine. We have a small farm at home, 50 chickens, 1 pig, 4 dogs, 2 peacocks and turtles. We have a vegetable garden, too! We exercise a lot, we never start a day without at least 1 hour of exercise, when there are weddings are the only days that we do not exercise. I have lived in Cancun since I was 2 years old. My sister is Gaby - the artist of Loto Mehndi!

What makes an Indian wedding so unique to shoot for you?

The Indian culture has always caught my attention, being present on wedding days makes my imagination fly, I love the colors they use, I love to see the ceremonies, it makes me feel for a moment as if I were doing a documental of the culture, and at the same time the beauty of the women and their eyes, the bearing with which they wear their dresses, makes me want to make the best portrait of that beautiful princess from a distant culture, for me, Indian weddings are like a little trip to another place. I really enjoy Indian wedding days.

What is the best shooting experience you've had at a wedding? What made it special?

They are all special, but I think one of the best experiences was when they took us to Isla Anguilla to document an Indian wedding, it was perhaps more special, because we traveled a lot to get there, and to know that a couple from the other side of the world would notice us and take us there, made us feel very special.

What should couples think about when hiring their wedding photographer?

  1. You have to identify with his/her style and art

  2. You will spend a lot of time together, you should feel connected with your photographer, you feel that even from emails, and if you can make a phone call there you will have the final click in case you already feel identified

  3. You should feel comfortable with his/her personalities so that everything is super light and natural on the wedding days

What piece of advice would you give brides and grooms to ensure that they get wedding photos they love forever?

That they relax, that they smile that they are, that they give each other a lot of love, that they let everything flow and we take care of everything else.
